SOAPe Platinum
Plus is being marketed as the chiropractic community's first and only
ad-supported chiropractic software. The concept of ad-supported software
is nothing new. There are literally thousands of free ad-supported applications
currently being offered by developers for both desktop and mobile platforms.
The concept being ad-supported software is that you get the software at no cost
in exchange for viewing relevant ads which typically appear as banners within
the software's interface. Ad-supported software can be a win-win for both
parties involved, hence it's growing popularity.
SOAPe has been providing software to the chiropractic community since 2003. Over the years, their software has grown from a small, sometimes 'buggy' PDA-based application into a complete practice management suite that now includes scheduling, reporting, chiropractic billing & claims management and paperless office capabilities.
SOAPe Platinum's scheduling module is loaded with useful features found in systems costing thousands of dollars. These include patient tracking, color coded appointment types with customizable time blocks (a huge time saver), multiple provider capabilities, one-click patient summaries, tracking for missed, no-show and cancelled appointments and automated patient appointment reminders. SOAPe Platinum also features a newly updated reporting wizard. All reports are point-and-click, and for the most part, customizable. Most reports take just seconds to complete. In addition to the standard chiropractic reports, SOAPe Platinum Plus now includes three outcomes assessment reports, all of which are quantifiable and comparable to previous and future evaluations. The software lacks a paper copy of these assessments that doctors can print and hand out to patients.
The latest version of SOAPe now includes billing & claims management. Claims can be auto-generated each time a note or report is created, thus eliminating the need to enter patient charges at the end of the day. This functionality virtually eliminates the need for billing personnel. There are several financial reports that can be run at the end of the day, though not as many as some other chiropractic software applications offer. There is also a monthly charge of $85 to submit electronic claims so the claim of 'free' is more or less misleading.
SOAPe Platinum Plus software offers everything you need to run your office more efficiently without the high price tag of comparable systems costing thousands of dollars. I was lured to this product with the expectation that I could get a complete ehr software for a few hundred dollars (activation fee). After multiple failed attempts to get the software installed and running properly I contacted soape support. There is no phone number to call and I was forced to send them an email. It's been 3 days now and I can't reach anyone? I don't think at this point I would feel comfortable trusting my sensitive practice data to this software or company.

I am writing this review to warn other chiropractors. The functionality of this software is mediocre. That is the only positive thing I have to say about this product. There is no customer support and no way to contact this company. This "free" software is really not free. You have to pay an activation fee every time you download it, you don't buy a license you pay every time you activate. That means if you switch computers you pay again. Don't buy this if you every want to upgrade you computers. We recently bought a new computer and tried to activate the software (again paying their activation fee) and their website is down. We have checked a few times and it has never gone back up, which means we can't activate the software, which renders our new computer useless until they get their site back up or we switch software. I am not a big fan of SOAPe and I am only still using it because we are try to find a way to switch over 1000 patients to a new system without doing it manually. Save yourself time and headaches and put out a little extra cash off the bat and get a more functional system.
Title: Stay Away! Worst Software Ever!!!

We were lured into trying out this software by the promise of it being 'free.' Once you start using it, you will know why they are forced to give it away. Well, not exactly. If you want to keep using it after the trial, you are forced to pay a $395 activation fee as they call it. If you need assistance, your option is a monthly or yearly support fee. This fee entitles you to an overseas tech (presumably India) who remotely connects to your computer. They could not fix my issues despite spending endless hours connecting and reconnecting to their remote support.
The program is also loaded with bugs, and according to their website, they haven't updated the software in almost a year. Tried to get a refund from the company and was told all sales are final.

Title: NOT REALLY FREE. CONSTANT FREEZING. ENDLESS PROBLEMS

I have been using the trial version of soape platinum software for over a week now and have had endless problems with this product. It constantly freezes disrupting the entire workflow of our office. The only way to resolve this issue is to reboot our servers and workstations. The software is also very buggy as another user has reported. They claim it's free, but charge an 'activation fee' of $350! They also charge you almost $100 per month for billing (which you will ultimately need) and force you into using their billing company rather than allowing you to select your own. Whenever we submit a support ticket to them, it takes them on average 4-5 days to respond and when they do, it's usually a form response that says support isn't available because this product is free. There is no phone number to reach the company if you do have an issue..just a ticket system. I would not trust my practice and my livelihood to this company and product.

The saying that you get what you pay for couldn't be more true when it comes to SOAPe Platinum software. The software is loaded with bugs which randomly deletes notes, payments, and other critical data from the system. There is no phone number listed for support and when you try and contact the company, you only receive a generic email saying that they do not office live support. For these reasons I highly recommend staying away from this product.

I opened an office on a budget, and Soape was an attractive choice. The setup was fairly easy, and using it didn't seem that bad. It wasn't until I tried to submit a claim (btw, there is only one EDI company that they worked with at the time) I had one flag that was incorrect across all of my test claims, and the EDI co. said it was the software vendor's issue, and Soape, said it was the EDI company's issue. Soape also proceeded to tell me that they were switching EDI companies, and that it would be another two months before I could submit a claim. I was very disappointed, and will have to shop for another software because I can't afford to wait another two months, and take the time to get set up with another EDI company, which was a lengthy process.
Their online support/knowledge base was a little lacking.
The other hole that I discovered was that I couldn't put in a patient payment if they paid at the time of service, unless they were a cash pt. I could only put in a patient payment AFTER insurance had paid, which meant that I had to maintain a separate spreadsheet of payments. None of their tutorials covered this situation. I guess the software assumes that no one pays at time of service, and you are going to invoice the patient every month for their copays/deductables.

First off, the software is not free as they claim on their website. There is a $395 fee that they say is for activation. The software must be activated after the trial expires. If you don't activate it, there is no way to access any of the data you have entered into the system. It's best to use only test data. The software is loaded with bugs...so much so that I was ready to call Terminix for help since support is essentially not available for this product. The system freezes constantly and requires Windows shut down and restart to launch again. You can imagine how much time this takes and how it can slow down the flow of a busy office. If you're in the market for chiropractic software, this is not your product.

Ok so I'll admit, I'm a sucker for anything that's free, especially when it comes to the type of software that typically sells for thousands of dollars. The process was pretty straight forth. No pushing and annoying sales people or hour-long presentations to deal with here. It took me about 10 min to download and install the software before using it. I did manage to watch a few of the videos before getting started which I found helpful to learn my way around the software. It pretty much does everything you would need of it to run your office like scheduling patients, reports and billing. I should mention there was a $195 admin fee that was required after the 2 week trial. I rated the client support low for the mere reason that the company does not offer live training and support, so it's difficult to rate them on a service they don't offer. All training and support is done through their video tutorials and KB which for the most part, was good enough to bring me up to speed on things.
I would say this software is for someone who doesn't require a lot of 'hand-holding' and who doesn't want to spend a lot of money on a practice management software.

SOAPe is a decent practice management software at a great price. I run a solo practice and have been using SOAP for almost a year. I would like to see them offer some type of live client support in the future since most doctors don't want to take the time watching videos and learn the software on their own. I'm not very tech savvy and took me several days to learn the basics of the system. It would also be nice if they offered some type of support plan in the future.
