TechBD EMR Pro is a new player in a growing
market of chiropractic EMR vendors. The TechBD website states that they offer a
complete EMR system for chiropractors and orthopedists. We downloaded the free
15 day trial version of their practice management system which they claim is
fully functional. The system was built using .NET technologies and the SQL
compact edition database. Upon first glance, the system is well organized and
visually appealing to the user. But, as the saying goes...you can't judge a
book by its cover.
The features and functionality of the system are limited and flawed. We tested out the appointment scheduler and were unable to add a new appointment using the dialog provided. The scheduler is also very basic. It does not offer multiple views, color coding, customized appointment types and time slots, etc. This scheduler is inadequate for most offices. Creating reports for a patient was also confusing as well. After adding a new patient to the system, we attempted to create a report using the "create report dialog" and were unable to. We later learned that you must click the "create a SOAP note" tab to create an initial or other reports. The system also lacks the ability to create customized templates which can help to save the provider time.
The biggest limitation of the TechBD EMR system is the billing module. Entering charges is time-consuming and confusing. The system is not equipped with a database of ICD-9 and CPT codes, so they must constantly be entered manually each time a claim is generated. Users are also unable to create and print superbills and statements for patients. One of the biggest pitfalls of the system is that it's not set up for electronic claims submission and management. We don't understand the reasoning in building an EMR using the latest technologies and limiting billing output to paper claims? There is also no way to apply payments or track receivables within the software. The TechBD EMR Pro system retails for $2,500.00. They also offer 6 months of free support, but list no phone number on their company website. This is likely due to the fact that the company is based out of India. Title: Worst Software Ever - Stay Away!

I purchased this product about a year ago and still regret it to this day. It constantly freezes and is loaded with bugs. It's almost impossible to reach someone in their support department, which is located in India. There is no phone number available, just an email contact. Their current version hasn't been updated in years.
